MileOne Announces the Official Launch of their new Social Media Site, MyMileOne.com
MileOne Automotive today announced the official launch of their first social media site MyMileOne.com. The site allows customers to engage with MileOne through blogs, videos, photos, social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter, local events, downloads and games.
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) Friday, October 31st, 2008 — Today, MileOne Automotive launches their social media site MyMileOne.com. The new site will allow visitors to watch videos, discuss new and used cars, learn about upcoming events, download automotive wallpaper for their computer or mobile device, play games and get the latest updates on discounts and specials from MileOne’s 28 different manufacturers. Fans of MyMileOne.com can stay connected to the site’s updates through RSS feeds and any of the major social networks like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.
“Over the last year, we have been shifting our online philosophy to better mirror the online behaviors of our customers,” said MileOne’s Chief Marketing Officer, David Metter. “People are spending more and more time online watching videos, playing games, writing and commenting on blogs and we want to provide information in these more informative and exciting formats. Who wants to read about a new car when you can actually see it speeding down the road and slamming on the brakes? Who wants to be told information and never be given the chance to comment? Some say it’s not a good idea to give your customers a voice because you might not like what you hear, but we say just the opposite! If people are unhappy, we want to know and we want to be given the chance to take action and we certainly hope when the reverse is true, customers will come to MyMileOne to share their stories. I really think customers are going to enjoy using MyMileOne to connect with not just MileOne, but the world of cars and trucks as a whole.”
MileOne hopes customers, enthusiasts and anyone who wants to learn about and discuss cars, will come to the site and take advantage of the great new car videos on MileOneTV and YouTube that include professionally shot and rough cut videos. Visitors are also encouraged to use the “My Ride” section to share photos and videos of their own cars through Flickr and YouTube. Customers can even post pictures on the MileOne’s MySpace and Facebook walls.
“In addition to creating an online community, we use MyMileOne to promote events in our local communities which span from Northern North Carolina through Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania,” said Event Manager, Jeannetta McGettigan. “We participate and sponsor events ranging from local non-profit events like Relay for Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer by the American Cancer Society or the Dragon Boat Races from Catholic Charities, to large sporting events such as the Baltimore Ravens Games and NASCAR in the Poconos. You can ask anyone that works for MileOne…we don’t just want to be in your neighborhood, we want to be a part of it!”

Sunday, October 26, 2008 MileOne Automotive participated in the 2008 Making Strides Event in Baltimore, Maryland. As a flagship sponsor MileOne encouraged all employees to support the cause in any way they can whether it be making a donation, walking, or wearing pink on power pink Thursdays during October. Our turn out this year was better than ever with over 500 employees, friends and family who attended the walk and many more that were unable to attend but made donations.

The event began with bagels, coffee and snacks then group photos, inspirational speeches from cancer survivors and flagship sponsors, and ended with the four mile walk. MileOne lead the walk in a 2009 Saturn Aura accompanied with all the cancer survivors. The Saturn Aura will be the raffle car for the 2009 Relay for Life in Maryland.
For the last several years MileOne has donated a vehicle to the American Cancer Society to be raffled off at the Relay events. To date MileOne has donated over $250,000 and raised over $3 Million for cancer fighting efforts. This charity is extremely important to MileOne and as a large company it is heart warming to see so many people share a common belief.

On October 21, 2007 nearly 250 MileOne employees spent their Sunday morning supporting the American Cancer Society at their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The event began with opening remarks from members of The American Cancer Society followed by inspiring remarks from MileOne President and Chief Operating Officer, Jerry Fader. Soon after, employees and close to 4,000 members of our community set out on a 4 mile walk around Baltimore contributing to an overall $400,000 raised for finding a cure to breast cancer. Thanks to the charitable donations of MileOne employees and customers, we alone, contributed close to $25,000!
Each year, MileOne Automotive is a flagship sponsor for The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, which means we provide additional monetary support and guarantee at least 100 walkers. In order to meet the goals set forth by the American Cancer Society and our own company, we rely heavily on our internal leaders. This year, we had 10 team captains and one company captain, who gave up their time to recruit walkers and raise money for Making Strides. Our team captains went all out this year with “Power Pink Thursdays,” selling $3000 worth of danglers at our dealerships, selling bracelets and other breast cancer related support items and holding support lunches to show their dedication and commitment to helping MileOne raise money and walkers.
As company captain, I want to personally thank the amazing men and women who made Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2007 a great success: Louise Fisher, Amy Truitt, Paul Amick, Joan Luckey, Erica Frey, Gina Goffus, Nicole Baker, Cheryl Miller, Jackie Huber, Mike Hoban, Robyn Schuerholz, Mike Blumenthal, David Metter, Jerry Fader and Steve Fader. Thank you to all for your time and support. Finally, I would like to also thank everyone who joined the MileOne team for this year’s walk; your support truly makes a difference.
Looking forward, as proclaimed at the event, Jerry Fader has already challenged and declared that MileOne will lead in walkers and monetary donations for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2008. His challenge did not fall on deaf ears, for the other flagship sponsors responded much like many of our own walkers; committed and personally challenged to participate and walk again in 2008. I know my fellow MileOne employees will continue supporting the American Cancer Society and their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer until the cure is found!

Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) October 16, 2008 — Today, Herb Gordon Nissan of Silver Spring, a MileOne dealership, announced the final schedule for their Grand Re-Opening event which will be held Friday, October 24th through Sunday, October 26th. In early October, the dealership completed their seven month renovation and opened their doors to a brand new five car showroom and 19-bay service center including two express bays for quick oil changes and minor services. The Grand Re-Opening Event will start at 9am on Friday the 24th and will include food, games, demonstrations from the Fire Department, contests to win an XM Satellite radio, free blood pressure monitoring and al of the re-designed Nissan vehicles like the Maxima, Murano and Altima to match the newly redesigned showroom.
“While we wanted to follow Nissan’s ‘re-imaging’ plan, we really spared no expense in this renovation because our customers deserve the best in automotive shopping and servicing. The entire renovation was done with our customers in mind.” said General Manager for Herb Gordon Nissan, Van Westerlund. “From conveniences like wi-fi throughout the dealership to an internet style cafe and enclosed children’s play area both with plasma TVs, to real time savers like the new front-end alignment machine which shortens a 45 minute service down to 15 minutes and to comforts like climate-controlled service lanes and brand new furniture throughout the showroom, we tried to meet and exceed the needs and wants of our loyal Nissan owners. With the new Nissan showroom and service center completed, we are now eager to get the used car facility finished! There is never a moments rest when it comes to serving our customers.”
MileOne invested over two million dollars in the 37,000 square foot state-of-the-art renovation project and plans to continue investing in similar projects for a majority of their 65 dealerships located in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The Silver Spring dealerships which include Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Volvo and Subaru in addition to Nissan and the Used Car center have an estimated completion date of late 2011. All of the new facilities will follow the same objective Nissan had, which was to redesign with the customers convenience and comfort in mind.
“As a group, we’re not immune to what is going on with the economy, but over the last 35 years of serving the automotive needs of our communities, we have learned that taking care of our customers and employees is step one in running a successful business. I think our customers have realized this and it’s why they continue to come to us for buying and servicing their automobiles.” said MileOne President and COO, Jerry Fader. “We repay our customers’ loyalty by continually reinvesting in our physical locations to make them more comfortable and efficient and also by investing in our online presence to allow or customers to choose the comfort of their own home through which to schedule service, buy parts and accessories and one day soon buy the car of their dreams.”
To attend the Grand Re-Opening festivities or to tour the new Nissan facility, stop by 3131 Automobile Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20904. If you are interested in getting pre-approved, valuing your trade, or scheduling your service before you visit, check out their redesigned website, as well: www.herbgordonnissan.net. These European Volvos use aero aids to eke out more distance per gallon of diesel.
While Americans fret about miles per gallon, Europeans take a serious look at how much carbon dioxide (CO2) their vehicles emit. Volvo‘s done just that with its new DRIVe range, consisting of specially-tuned versions of its C30, S40, and V50 models. All three produce less than 120 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

When you think station wagons, you usually think Volvo. The V70 is the image of practicality, if not exactly a driving excitement.
You might think that Volvo wagons are desired only by affluent suburban mothers, but think again: my friend Richard, a 38-year-old hair stylist, is ga-ga over this car. As soon as he saw it in my driveway, he gushed, “That Volvo wagon is BEAUTIFUL! I want it! It would be perfect for me and Walter – I could put a crate in the back for him.” Walter is not another man, but rather Richard’s snow white Siberian husky. And I agree, both stylish Richard and handsome Walter would look good in the Volvo V70.
