Your Subaru is “Dog Test. Dog Approved”

Subaru and the ASPCA have partnered up to create a “Dog Tested. Dog Approved” campaign. 7 out of 10 Subaru customers have some kind of pet, so this partnership was created to help bring these pets and people together.

In the first year alone, a $1.2 million donation was collected through their “Share the Love” event. Over the holiday season, many events were held which resulted in over 350 adoptions and $28,000 for local agencies. Subaru is celebrating their partnership with the ASPCA though a campaign featuring, Olive and Zelda, two adopted dogs, driving a Subaru Forester.

2010 Nissan Leaf is Finally Arriving in Maryland

If you thought fuel efficiency was just a trend, then you were sorely mistaken. Manufacturers are placing more and more eco friendly vehicle on the road every day. Nissan, who is already known for small fuel efficient cars like the versa and Sentra, has now entered the hybrid market with the long awaited Nissan Leaf.

The Nissan Leaf is set to come out this year, in 2010, but mass production of the vehicle will not begin until 2012. It is 100% electric, absolutely no gas and no emissions. However, it functions like a normal V6 vehicle. It speeds up to 90 mph, holds 5 passengers, and even comes with the bells and whistles – airbags, audio systems, navigation systems and more.

This all sounds great, but let’s be honest, the one question everyone is asking is about the battery. Put simply, the battery charges in 4-8 hours, but at quick-charge stations it can charge up to 80% in only 26 minutes. The battery life has a range of 100 miles per charge under everyday driving conditions.

Obviously there are many more concerns with a new battery powered vehicle. This is why Nissan has launched a site powered by twitter for consumers to easily post questions and receive answers. Nissan credits “strong initial demand” for the decision, saying that nearly 22,000 people in North America have contacted the company since the car’s unveiling in August. The five-passenger hatchback is expected to be priced between $28,000 and $35,000 before any government incentives.

New Audi MMI with Google Earth Integration

Audi isn’t the first to add Google to its in-car information offerings. It is, however, the first to add Google Earth and then tie that in to a suite of mobile tools that will make using your navigation system almost as easy and comprehensive as using your home computer.

In the latest incarnation of Audi’s Multimedia Interface (MMI), Google Earth provides a bird’s-eye view of the surroundings. Then you can zoom over the landscape, choose a city to investigate and pull up its Wikipedia page. When you know where you want to go, let your finger do the typing on the touchpad to enter your destination. Follow the jump for a video of the system in action. The new A8 just got a little bit sweeter.

Herb Gordon Volvo Installs New Top on Demitric Evans’ 1971 Olds Cutlass Convertible

Demitric Evans – Defensive Linebacker of the San Francisco 49ers and formally for the Washington Redskins has shipped his 1971 Olds Cutlass Convertible to Herb Gordon Volvo to have some work done.

Although Demitric is currently playing in San Francisco, his permanent residence still remains on the East Coast in Virginia and he continues to depend on Herb Gordon Volvo for all his automotive needs.

Manager, Ed Sarecky speaks highly regarding their relationship with the NFL athlete. “He is very loyal to us and we are glad to return the favor when we can. Most recently we shipped a used SUV to his mother in Louisiana and now we are thrilled to have the Cutlass in the repair shop.”

The antique car was purchased from Kentucky and is getting a new top. It is expected to be completed by the end of January, just in time for the off-season.

It is with pleasure that I write to you about my always outstanding experience at the Herb Gordon Mercedes-Benz dealership. I have been a loyal customer of the dealer­ship since 1980 and, once again, I am reminded why.

Recently, my car was in for service, requiring the involvement of my insur­ance company. Under the combined guidance of Gary Dove and Tony Wasfi, what felt initially like a quagmire, became easily resolved. Gary is a master of immediately assessing the issues, suggesting the best solutions, and offering reassuring and competent guidance throughout the process. I also know that my car is in the best, professional hands under Gary’s and Tony’s direction. Tony not only dili­gently managed the repair process; he interceded on my behalf with my insurance company in an accommo­dating and professional manner. As if this were not enough, the superb assistance I receive from both Gary and Tony is always delivered with the utmost respect and courtesy.

It is often said that the best form of advertising is “word-of-mouth” and the best business is a result of referrals. I never hesitate to relate these extraor­dinary and pleasant interactions to my friends and colleagues and refer them to Herb Gordon Mercedes-Benz.

Audi Launches Facebook Campaign

Another player in the struggling auto industry is expanding its Facebook presence. Luxury car maker Audi is teaming with TurnHere to launch a social video campaign on Facebook highlighting its participation in the “Youth Mobile 2030″ design challenge.

Audi currently has more than 324,000 Facebook fans, one of the highest among car makers. The new campaign will use videos to reach out to those fans and ask for their input on what features they would like to see on future cars.

“Video is a powerful way to experience the Audi brand and the passion of our design team. We wanted to show our Facebook fans that we’re committed to creating automobiles that fit our changing lifestyles; and having this conversation with them is a critical part of that process,” said Brad Stertz, Manager of Corporate Communications for Audi of America. “TurnHere did a great job of capturing that passion and desire in an authentic way that lets our designers start the conversation online among our fans.”

“Youth Mobile 2030″ is the theme of this year’s Los Angeles Design Challenge, with design studios in Southern California submitting their concepts of cars for consumers in the year 2030. According to the designers featured in the videos, Audi is attempting to take into consideration lifestyle as much as form and function in their design, and the car company is looking for insight from its Facebook fans for direction.

The campaign is an excellent use of an existing fan base to gather data about what customers will be looking for in future products.
