2013 Mazda CX-5

Mazda has taken a stand to incorporate both fuel efficiency and driving excitement for their consumers. This CX-5 is Mazda’s declaration of how they plan to accomplish it. Being named ‘Crossover of the Year 2012’ is surely good start.

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility available in 6 trims ranging from the Sport FWD to the Grand Touring AWD. There is a single engine choice for the Mazda CX-5 in the Mazda SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter four cylinder which generates 155 horsepower. The engine features a 13:1 compression ratio, the highest of any mass-produced car in the world. Those looking at good fuel economy, roomy seats, sleek styling and affordable pricing, this is the car for you. The 2013 Mazda CX-5 has an EPA-estimate of 26MPG city/35 MPG highway making it one of the class leading sport-utility crossovers available in the market to date.

Also noteworthy in the CX-5 is Mazda’s new KODO design aesthetics. KODO meaning ‘Soul of Motion’ is earning Mazda considerable buzz in the automotive industry for its sleek lines and sporty yet distinctive look. The 2013 CX-5 marks the FIRST model utilizing the KODO design language within their fleet. Look for future Mazda vehicles to follow the CX-5′s lead.

Mazda has finally revealed the long-awaited 2014 Mazda6 at this years Moscow Auto Show. The all-new Mazda6 boasts every essence of the Takeri sedan concept vehicle, inspired by the KODO “soul of motion” design language which first made its debut in the new 2013 Mazda CX-5. This new Mazda styling encompasses not only elegance and grace, but also the strength, performance and efficiency of Mazda’s SKYACTIVE® Technology.

Mazda says the American market specifications will be released at a later date. However engine options revealed at the show include a 148-hp SkyActiv-G 2.0-liter four cylinder and a 189-hp 2.5-liter Sky-Activ-G four cylinder. However that doesn’t give any additional insight as to Mazda’s plans to cast aside the 2012 model’s 272-hp 3.7-liter V6 which helped excel previous models farther upmarket.

It should be noted that previous Mazda6 offerings have received respected industry awards including the 2009 MotorTrend Car of the Year. With the 2014 model’s exciting reintroduction with a more muscular face and smaller body size we should expect a great response to Mazda’s latest KODO “soul of motion” offering.

The Caliber’s got your back at the pump. When it comes to sporty vehicles, it’s reassuring to know hugging turns isn’t burning a hole in your wallet at the pump. Usually great gas mileage means a smaller car and less storage, not in this car. Fold-flat seating and second-row reclining seats make transporting easy. Coming to your Maryland Mazda dealer this summer is the all-new Mazda2. They call this car “Zoom Zoom in its most concentrated form;” compact and efficient, yet packed with style and substance.

If you missed the Baltimore Auto Show last month, don’t worry you’ll be seeing more of this sporty car soon enough. Until that day comes, you will just have to hear about how great the newly developed suspension, Electric Power Assist Steering system, Sequential Valve Timing and a powerful MZR 1.5 engine handles from our foreign friends.

As a Mazda owner, it should be no surprise that the new Mazda2 has a sleek outer shell, superior handling, gets great mileage and is completely affordable. What is different is that it’s about 100kg lighter than its predecessors and even more efficient, but without the loss of its other outperforming qualities.

Lighter materials use to produce the Mazda2 is a major contributing factor honoring its top safety achievements and fuel economy. The vehicle has already achieved world-leading crash safety ratings (5 stars in the Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP, the highest possible result) without compromising drive performance and fuel economy.

With numerous awards already under its belt in China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Germany, Slovakia, and more, it’s time to prove itself in the States. The Mazda2 should bring a fun and sleek new look to the streets, and give consumers another option in the compact car segment.
